Fruit cake developed by family-run Shipley bakers and patissiers Just Desserts using locally-brewed ale has won a fine foods award.
The traditional Landlord’s fruit cake, made with Keighley brewer Timothy Taylor’s Landlord bitter, picked up a two star gold at the Great Taste Awards organised by The Guild of Fine Food.
The bakery, which produces handmade desserts for the hospitality and catering markets, tried a number of recipes before it was happy with the quality, texture and taste combination of mixed fruit and the strong pale ale.
