Two former partners of a closed West Yorkshire law firm have joined the expanding litigation team at Bradford-based solicitors Schofield Sweeney.

Nigel Middlemass and Richard Stockdale, previously partners at Brooke North, which closed recently, joined Schofield Sweeney, which also has a Leeds office, when it took on the dispute resolution team from Brooke North. Assistant solicitors Laura Salvati and Jo Gill have also moved over.

Nigel Middlemass, who qualified in 1980 and joined Brooke North in 1994, specialises in commercial litigation, including high value, complex multi-party disputes.

Mr Stockdale has worked for more than 27 years in commercial litigation and specialises in all areas of dispute resolution as well as construction law and professional negligence.

A former president of Leeds Law Society, he is also a Deputy District Judge and a CEDR-accredited mediator as well as a visiting lecturer and examiner at Leeds Metropolitan University.

The recruits join Schofield Sweeney’s existing eight-strong team headed by James Staton.
