A logistics firm will be celebrating the success of its first year by moving into a bigger premises in the home town of its Bradford-based managing director.
Imports expert Lee Meadowcroft has announced plans to move his logistics firm Sabre Ocean Solutions from its current site in Pudsey to Little Germany on the first anniversary of the company.
Since starting in December last year the company, which specialises in importing goods from the Far East, is on target for a £1 million turnover by the end of the financial year.
Mr Meadowcroft, 31, who lives in Wilsden, said he hoped the company’s expansion into larger premises at Belmont Business Centre, in the heart of Little Germany, would include taking on two apprentices to join his workforce, which currently consists of three members of staff.
He said: “We based ourselves in Pudsey at first and we will have been here for 12 months on December 1, but what I decided to do was bring the business to Bradford.
“The reason behind that was just basically to support the local business community in Bradford.
“Over the years Bradford has suffered a bad reputation, but I decided enough is enough, I’m moving my business to Bradford.
“We are a growing company, we have been growing for the last 12 months and we are celebrating our first anniversary by moving our offices into Little Germany.
“If we can grow and give business to local suppliers then we will do.
“In the times we are in at the moment, everything we can do to support that is what we will do.”
Over the last year the company has shipped everything from garden gnomes and golf clubs to Christmas trees and pest control devices.
Mr Meadowcroft spent 15 years working for some of the region’s top logistics organisations before launching Sabre.
He said: “Bradford is my home and I’m looking forward to Sabre being part of the regeneration of the city. We run a lean, nimble operation backed up by heavyweight experience and our size enables us to be highly competitive and adaptable to market conditions.”
