Three new businesses opened their doors in Skipton on one day – and among the guests of honour was Coronation Street star William Roache.
Mr Roache, who plays Ken Barlow in the TV soap, carried out the official opening of Ken Varey’s Outdoor World in the former Gregg’s shop on the High Street.
Meanwhile, leading retail consultant Karl McKeever was on hand to meet visitors of opening at vintage fashion shop, The Birdcage, also on the High Street.
The non-profit shop will focus on vintage and handmade fashion and will raise money for Behind Closed Doors, a Leeds charity that provides support for people who have been affected by domestic abuse.
The shop, which aims to revive the ‘make do and mend’ traditions, will also be running sewing workshops.
Meanwhile Omar Khan’s Wine Bar and restaurant, on Keighley Road, was officially opened by Telegraph & Argus editor Perry Austin-Clarke, chairman of Caring Bradford, a charity fund-raising organisation set up by Mr Khan, Bradford MPs Gerry Sutcliffe and Marsha Singh and Mr Austin-Clarke.
