A Bradford-based window and door company best known for its ‘buy one, get one free’ slogan has changed banks to fund expansion plans.
Safestyle UK, which employs around 200 staff at its Bradford base, has announced a new partnership with Barclays Corporate.
Founded in 1992 with £2,000 capital, Safestyle is now the UK’s largest independent company providing uPVC double glazed windows, doors and other products. It is raising an undisclosed amount of funding to expand its branch network in areas where it does not already have a major presence.
Safestyle UK, part of the Style Group, has more than 40 branches around the UK but wants to raise its presence, particularly in the south of England.
Last year the company installed more than £100m of replacement doors and windows in domestic properties and this year launched an energy ‘A’ rated window.
So far, it has expanded its geographic coverage with new branches in Exeter, Plymouth, and Colchester.
The branches provide a base for self-employed sales agents with products being made at Safestyle’s factory in Barnsley.
Mike Robinson, finance director, said: “We had an excellent 2010 and have made a strong start to 2011 as demand for our products continues to grow.
“Although our brand is a national one, there are some parts of the country, mainly in the south, where we are looking to expand our presence with new branch operations.
“Barclays Corporate has been very supportive of our requirements and plays an integral part in our plans for growth.
“With the new facilities in place, we are now able to focus on rolling out our Yorkshire brand throughout the UK.”
The company, which employs a total of 535 staff, is well known for its ‘BOGOF’ television and radio advertisements and is planning further campaigns to support its growth plans.
Simon Cox, Barclays Corporate relationship director, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support this forward thinking and ambitious Yorkshire based business bring their aspirations to fruition. Barclays is committed to supporting local businesses and we wish the management team every success for the future.”
Earlier this year Safestyle resurrected a 12-year-old low budget TV commercial.
The move drove up business by 28 per cent in the first quarter of the year, compared with the equivalent period the previous year. The 1999 commercial launched its ‘you buy one, you get one free’ catchphrase and saw the debut of Jeff ‘The Window Man’ Brown.
