Apprentice butcher Kyle Mottram went on the run from Keelham Hall Farm Shop in Thornton, Bradford, and picked up a special award for the mascot raising the most money in a charity event at Wetherby racecourse.
Kyle, running as ‘Lamby’ in a costume depicting the legendary cricketer Alan Lamb, secured more than £1,000 in sponsorship on behalf of Manorlands, the Sue Ryder care home in Oxenhope.
It was the most raised by an individual runner in the annual Yorkshire Young Farmers Clubs’ mascot race and Kyle’s fund-raising efforts were boosted by his employer who organised a customer raffle to raise funds.
Prize winners included Mrs A Richards, of Wilsden.
The race day raised around £15,000 for charity, with the lion’s share going to the Sue Ryder charity.
Keelham Farm Shop won the retail- hospitality business category in the T&A Bradford Means Business awards.
