Global skin care giant Beiersdorf AG has turned to Bradford boffins to help improve its products, which include Nivea, Elastoplast and La Prairie.
Scientists at medical research group Syntopix, who are working on a cure for acne, have signed a research agreement with Hamburg-based Beiersdorf AG, an international company.
Syntopix boss Dr Stephen Jones said he hoped the deal would be the start of “a long and fruitful relationship”.
Beiersdorf will pay Syntopix to screen its products and develop compounds to improve their potency, Syntopix, based at Bradford University’s Institute for Pharmaceutical Innovation, will develop evaluation – known as assays – to examine the delivery of active ingredients in the products and maximise their effectiveness.
Dr Jones said: “I am delighted to be working with Beiersdorf."
