Bradford property experts have played a key role in the development of a fuelling and maintenance site for hydrogen-powered London buses which are helping to create a cleaner environment for travellers in the capital.

Experts from Rex Procter & Partners Construction Consultants acted for Transport for London and First Group on the new site for the fuelling and maintenance of hydrogen fuel cell hybrid buses.

The building is designed to service and fuel-up ten hydrogen-powered buses, which have been introduced onto one of the busiest central London bus routes.

Instead of producing exhaust gases, the new buses produce water.

It is expected that, overall, the fuel cell vehicles will produce 50 per cent less CO2 than a diesel vehicle.

Joe Deegan, director at Rex Procter & Partners, said “The hydrogen fuel cell hybrid bus project is an example of excellent collaboration between our client, the hydrogen provider, operating company and design team, working together to provide a state-of-the-art facility for the benefit of London, and potentially other cities.

“We are delighted to have played a part in delivering this project.”

The development was officially opened by Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor for policing and chairman of the London Hydrogen Partnership.
