A group of housing associations in the North, including Bradford-based Incommunities, scooped two awards at the Northern Housing Consortium silver screen awards.

The Airport Group, which includes 15 housing associations, picked up an award for its partnership efforts in getting people back into work and training in the ‘Localism’ category of the Housing, the Economy, Employment and Enterprise sector of the competition.

The judges also awarded the Group the overall prize for 2010.

As part of the awards, a short film was made about the work of the Airport Group and featured a number of key case studies.

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities group chief executive, said: “As a key member of the Airport Group we are delighted to share in this double success.

“Encouraging local people into work and training is a key priority for Incommunities through our open field service.

“We also work closely with our partners in the Airport Group to promoting opportunities in communities across the north of England.”

The Airport Group is an informal alliance of 15 stock transfer housing associations.

They are committed to working in collaboration on issues of common interest.

Incommunities is the largest social landlord in the Bradford district with more than 21,400 rented homes and more than 1,000 leasehold properties.
