Sixth form students at St Mary’s School, Menston, are being advised on managing their money by a local financial expert.
Andrew Holder, director of Guiseley-based independent financial advisers JM Glendinning Life and Pensions, is running a series of seminars at the school to help Year 13 students manage their money when they get to university.
Andrew, the father of two former students at the school, said: “The experience of applying for a student loan and looking ahead to paying it off is a daunting responsibility for many young people. We aim to help them become better informed about matters of finance to avoid problems and anxieties both at university and later in life.
“Students also need to know about life beyond their university course, when pensions, mortgage and investment decisions will be made.”
