STEVE Seymour – manager of Keighley's Airedale Shopping Centre – has received a top Rotary honour.
He has been presented with the coveted Paul Harris Fellowship, given for outstanding community service.
Mr Seymour thought he had been invited to the Keighley Rotary Club twilight meeting just to hear the speaker.
"I had to do a double take when the fellowship was announced – I had no idea at all about it," he said.
"I'm very pleased and proud.
"I enjoy my job and community involvement is the part I enjoy most.
"To receive an award for something I love doing is like getting free money!"
Rotarian Alan Hickman said the accolade was well deserved.
"Steve came to Keighley six years ago and has immersed himself in the life of the town," he added.
"He is active in BID, Keighley in Bloom, the Airedale Partnership, Fairtrade, the Keighley and Airedale Business Awards, Dementia Friendly Keighley and much more.
"And that's in addition to his grandfather duties!
"He is a worthy recipient."
Mr Seymour was presented with the fellowship badge and certificate by club president, Marie Hickman.
The speaker – Michael Osborne, from ARUP – gave a presentation on the Airedale Masterplan.
He outlined how the plan had been conceived and the way it had developed.
At the next twilight gathering, on April 3, the speaker will be Bradford Council chief executive Kersten England.
