ANGELA FAN

Angela runs the Bradford-based company Study Links, a guardianship organisation which acts for international children studying in the UK. Her nomination says: "Angela has been committed to her cause over the 17 years that Study Links has been established, plus the 10 years prior to this when she did the work voluntarily whilst juggling a full-time job. Angela began the company selflessly, and this generosity and good-heartedness, with a keen eye for business sense, is the perfect mix which we at Study Links believes makes Angela Business Woman of the Year every year!"

ASMA IQBAL

Asma works for Chadwick Lawrence solicitors. Her nomination reads: "What_has_this_person_done_to_deserve_this_nomination? = In a male dominated industry Asma has worked hard to raise her profile and succeed from when qualifying as a Solicitor in 1999. In 2001, Asma joined a commercial law firm in Leeds, becoming the first Asian Muslim female there. She entered a niche area of law there and was soon promoted to an Associate. In 2007, Asma joined Chadwick Lawrence LLP Solicitors to set up a Corporate Recovery and Insolvency team. Within 6 months she was offered equity partnership and became the first Asian Muslim female partner there and is in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility.

RACHEL BURROWES

Rachel set up Junior Jam, a provider of educational workshops, in Bradford and now employs 75 people. Her nomination reads: "Rachel takes a hands-on approach to running Junior Jam. From the sales process, marketing strategies and staff management, to the brand logo, finance and recruitment to name a few - they are all the product of Rachel's innovation, astuteness and resolve. No matter which area of the business you focus on, you see the hallmark of Rachel's work. Rachel is an absolute inspiration. She is on call 24 hours a day, and provides a friendly, enjoyable atmosphere to work in. She encourages us to express ourselves creatively to come up with new ideas and innovations, and it is for these reasons that we have been so successful.
