NEW BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
This award is for businesses that have been in operation for a year or less and which can demonstrate imagination, planning and commitment.
IT'S A TRAP
Opening in July 2014, It's A Trap! is a specialist comic shop that sells comic books and memorabilia. It was opened by Beth Whitaker in July last year and caters to the huge market that exists for comics, action figures and trading card games. Beth says: "As we expand, we will look to become increasingly socially aware and focus on areas like confidence building through board games in our upstairs space, as well as reading groups, social nights, gaming nights and teaming up with other local businesses to increase business across Bradford."
BRADFORD BREWERY
The Bradford Brewery is a brewery, bar and pie & mash shop that launched in the early part of 2015 as part of Bradford Council's Growth Zone Initiative. Not only that, but the launch of the business marked the return of the brewing industry to central Bradford for the first time in 60 years. Initially the brewery produced beers for sale in its own venue but recently has begun to roll out supplies to other pubs and bars in Bradford. Matthew Halliday says: "We are initially looking to launch another craft beer house within Bradford city centre. Launching our business and our first retail venue in the heart of the Independent Quarter was a good decision but we feel that the regeneration of Bradford city centre is now only going to speed up."
ADVANCERY LTD
Based at the Cottingley Business Park since last July, Advancery is a provider of cutting edge cloud-based IT Services. The Advancery ethos is the belief that the IT service landscape is changing rapidly and so they have created a suite of solutions that combine the best of reactive and proactive technologies, cloud services and consultancy can equip businesses for the future.
