ONE of Bradford's most historic pubs is set to re-open as a restaurant following a long battle over planning permission.
Cantina 93 - an 85-seater eaterie serving English and Mediterranean food - will soon open its doors at the Grade II-listed former Cock and Bottle pub, off Barkerend Road, following an £80,000 refurbishment.
Members of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) group have twice overturned planning permission for the project in the High Court, claiming original Victorian features had been removed from the building.
New restaurant manager Marsha Lilley said: "I’m so excited to have been appointed to take the helm of a fabulous new venture like Cantina93 and, equally, to be the custodian of this wonderful old building, which is a piece of Bradford history."

The project will initially create 11 new jobs, with owners also looking into the possibility of creating a cellar bar in the building's basement.
Brian Mitchell, acting chairman of the Bradford CAMRA group, described the news as "very sad and disappointing."
"Planners have totally disregarded the rules for a listed building, which is a heck of a shame," he added.
