A TRAINING business run by Bradford-born entrepreneur Sue Overton is seeking local backing to reach the semi-finals of a Sir Richard Branson sponsored competition for entrepreneurs.
Sue and her team, now based near York, have developed a new method of learning using drama and soap opera techniques. Her company Applied Practice retains close links to Bradford with clients including Bradford Council and many local early years childcare business.
She is looking to win a prize of £250,000 in the Pitch to Rich competition.
Sue said: “Our film based learning is revolutionising training for staff within the early years or pre-school sector but we hope we can eventually expand to support social care, youth work or care for the elderly.”
“Through our concept of drama-based film scenarios and a range of entertainment-based learning tools, we are challenging traditional methods of teaching and engaging nursery managers and staff who may not previously have had positive academic experiences.
“All our team, including actors, are local and we believe that our market potential is huge. We have, therefore, entered the Virgin/ Richard Branson “Pitch to Rich 2015” competition to help us develop our business further. We really need some local support to enable us to take this forward”
