THE boss of a West Yorkshire technology firm which is creating 400 local jobs is among a dozen regional entrepreneurs shortlisted for a top award.

Frank Hester, founder and chief executive of Horsforth-based TPP, which was this week praised by Prime Minister David Cameron who visited the company while campaigning in the general election, will compete for this year’s EY North of England entrepreneur of the year awards.

Regional winners, who will be named in June, will go on to contest for the UK award.

Frank Hester (pictured) said “Since we started TPP 17 years ago, we’ve always been based in Horsforth and we’re very proud of our history and our Yorkshire roots. That’s why we’re delighted that the Prime Minister joined us to recognised the impact that the region is making to the country’s economy."

“I’d like to thank the local people and businesses who have supported us from our early days and will continue to support us as we embark on this new venture, creating 400 new jobs.”

Catherine Reid, Yorkshire Entrepreneur Of The Year Leader at EY, said: “Our 2015 finalists are all outstanding entrepreneurs, who have driven the expansion of their companies by developing strong and often differentiated propositions, and robust management. Many of them remained resilient throughout the downturn and are prospering today in the improving economy.

“These dynamic, fast growing companies – and the people behind them – are vital to Yorkshire’s national and global competitiveness, and these awards rightly recognise their success.”
