BRADFORD MP David Ward is backing a campaign to help homeowners make their premises more energy efficient and sustainable.
The Bradford East MP officially opened a new renewable energy firm called Eco-Energy, which will supply sustainable products and solutions to consumers.
Eco-Energy is part of the Bradford-based family-run Redmond Group operating since 1997 and has a £5 million turnover. The new operation will be a stand-alone business, and will spearhead a campaign called ‘Is your home fit for the future? It aims to make homeowners aware of how they can reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
At the official opening, David Ward said: “We need businesses like Eco-Energy that are creating jobs and leading on the issue of sustainable and green thinking. I fully support and endorse the ‘get your home fit for the future’ campaign.”
“Through schemes like the Green Deal and Energy Companies Obligation, we have ensured that over one million homes across the country have received energy efficiency measures which help reduce climate change and more importantly reduces energy bills, often for the most vulnerable.
“These schemes rely on entrepreneurs and successful companies in the renewable sector like Eco-Energy innovating and delivering solutions so without them, this would be a much more difficult task. “ Scott Redmond, Eco-Energy managing director, said: “We’re delighted to have officially launched the business and look forward to working hard to deliver sustainable solutions to homeowners in Bradford and Yorkshire.
The reality is that the UK housing stock is behind many of its global competitors when it comes to how sustainable and cost-effective it is. And not everybody is aware there are solutions and measures available that will not only help the environment and make a property more eco-friendly, but also reduce household bills.
“Eco-energy and its ‘Is your home fit for the future campaign’ has been launched to provide a no-nonsense solution. It’s not about green buzzwords or short-term gains but informing homeowners how they can implement these solutions and what products and grants are available.” It will provide homeowners with underfloor heating, replacement boilers, central heating and air source heating exchanges.
