TWO pure wool throws to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo and the 50th anniversary of the death of Winston Churchill have been launched by historic Pudsey-based textile firm Hainsworth.
The company, which has been producing woollen textiles since 1783, designed the De Lancey Throw using the colours of the uniforms it supplied to the troops at the Battle of Waterloo. It is named after Lady Magdalene de Lancey who travelled to the battlefield of Waterloo in 1815 to sit with her injured fiancé as he died.
The Winston Throw is inspired by the memory of Sir Winston Churchill and celebrates the spirit of the Second World War’s ‘Blitz’, when he was prime minister.
The throws are part of a the company’s new Scarlet & Argent collection of woollen blankets, throws and accessories.
