BRADFORD-based grocer Morrisons has joined the UK’s top rank of food service businesses by opening its 400th store café in Milton Keynes this week.
Morrisons’ 400 cafés now serve 800,000 customers with 35 million meals a year, turning over £225 million, putting Morrisons’ foodservice business in the top ten largest by turnover and seventh largest by the number of locations.
Darren Smith, of Morrisons café customer planner, said: “Morrisons has the most popular supermarket cafés. The opening of our 400th café ranks us as the seventh largest UK operator. Our formidable reputation is testament to our sound menu offer, helpful staff and loyal customer base.”
Last September Morrisons launched a new café concept, which will be in all new stores and introduced in existing ones. Footfall in trial cafés has increased by 25 per cent.
