Big-hitters from the business world have celebrated the best companies, entrepreneurs and innovations at the fourth annual Telegraph & Argus Bradford Means Business awards last year.

The glittering black-tie ceremony, held at the Aagrah Midpoint Suite in Thornbury was hosted by the T&A with support from Bradford Chamber of Commerce and Bradford Council.

The big winner on the night was Mansfield Pollard, a Bowling-based engineering company which was crowned both Manufacturer of the Year and Winner of Winners.

An award last year Environmental, Health and Social Care Business of the Year went to Sovereign Health Care, which was founded as a hospital fund in Bradford in 1873.

Chief executive Russ Piper said: "What we do for the community in Bradford is really important to us, and I hope that stays that way for many years to come.

"There are a lot of great things going on in Bradford, and we will play our part in trying to drive it forward as the years go on."

This year things have been shaken up, with a brand new award in place of that one, for Apprentice of the Year.

Opening the evening in 2014, Damian Holmes, deputy editor of the T&A, said he was delighted at the response to the awards.

"The business landscape of Bradford is incredibly rich and varied, and should be celebrated for all its stories, big and small, " said Mr Holmes.

"They are the very fabric that keeps Bradford business so successful."

Other speakers on the night included David Green, the leader of Bradford Council, and Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Gary Verity, who delivered a keynote speech on the journey behind bringing the Tour de France's Grand Depart to the region next month.
