A DRIVE to turnaround Mothercare’s UK stores appeared to be paying off after the baby goods retailer reported a return to festive sales growth.
The company said UK like-for-like sales rose 1.1 per cent in the 13 weeks to January 10 as it limited promotional activity and delayed its end of season sale until Boxing Day.
Chief executive Mark Newton-Jones said the figures represented progress in the company’s push to re-establish Mothercare.
The improvement follows a £100 million fundraising from shareholders towards the modernisation.
