FIVE new jobs are being created at an Aire Valley manufacturer as it pursues an export drive in Europe.
Acorn Stairlifts is expanding its export sales team to 16 to support the Steeton-based company’s continued expansion into Germany, France, Italy and Spain. The additional resources will help Acorn support and expand its dealer network.
In the last three years, Acorn has doubled export revenues at its UK factories from £35.5 million to £71 million and the company exports about half of its stairlifts to more than 100 countries.
Kate Gledhill, group HR manager, said: “Acorn employs more than 500 staff in the UK, most of them here in West Yorkshire, and we are regularly looking for new staff. The fact that we are looking to increase our multi-lingual export sales team so dramatically demonstrates both our recent successes and our determination to export even more Acorn Stairlifts to Europe.”
Acorn has won two export awards in the last two years and has recently been shortlisted in three categories in the Made in Yorkshire Awards to be decided later this month.
