PROPERTY agent CBRE has been instructed to sell industrial land in Keighley for housing development.
The company’s Leeds office is to market the site of tube maker J Stell & Sons (Stell’s) at Holme Mills in Fell Lane, which has been allocated for the development of 196 new homes once the land has been sold.
Stell, which has been making cardboard tubes in Keighley for 140 years and on the present site since 1949, is relocating to a modern refurbished freehold 80,000 sq ft base at the nearby Aire Valley Business Park.
The new site will be fully operational by next summer and five jobs will be added to Stell’s 80-strong workforce in the short term The relocation will leave the Holme Mills site in Keighley vacant and ready for redevelopment. The site comprises 17.2 acres in an established residential area about 1.5 km to the south west of Keighley town centre Mike Gorman, director of CBRE’s Leeds residential and investment team, said; “Holme Mill Lane presents an opportunity for a purchaser to acquire a prime development site situated in a strong location. The site’s allocation for residential development confirms its suitability for a scheme of this nature, the creation of which will make an important contribution to the housing provision within the Keighley area.”
