A software development company whose owner chose Bradford as an ideal base for expansion has moved into larger city centre offices to accommodate future growth and job creation.
The Sett Group, which moved to Bradford from Cardiff in 2009, has relocated from Little Germany to the four-storey Parkinson Building in Hustlergate.
The nine-strong company is using two floors of the Victorian building but intends to use all 3,000 sq ft of space as it expands in the next few years.
Founder and managing director Rob Walters said he hoped to recruit another 15 to 20 staff over the next three years or so as demand for Sett’s IT-related services continued to grow.
And as the job creation continues, he will consider applying for support from Bradford Council’s Growth Zone scheme which provides rate relief to firms creating jobs in the city centre.
Sett, which has roughly doubled turnover to about £200,000 over the past year or so, provides business and technology services including web design, software development, database development and consultancy in areas including IT and technology, project management and business improvement.
The company has clients across the UK, as well as in the United States, Australia and Hong Kong.
Rob said: “I started Sett in 2008 in Cardiff but moved to Bradford in 2009 as I felt the city offered an ideal base to grow and develop the business. Fortunately, that has turned out to be the case.
“With the recent announcement from Bradford Council to invest time and funds into the regeneration of Bradford city centre and the new Westfield centre, we feel this is a great move for the Sett Group. This prime location is exactly what we needed and will enable us to expand and grow the business.”
The office is opposite the Westfield development and a webcam has been set up to monitor the project’s progress at settuk.com/sett/westfield.
Sett also recently added a new service called the Sett UX Lab, which is the only user experience consultancy and service provider in the city. It aims to help clients ensure that their software, web or mobile device apps are giving the best performance and delivering returns on investment.
“The power of Sett UX Lab is its ability to help us to understand how real people use the interfaces we create, helping us to base what we do on science and understanding rather than simply our own ‘art’. It builds on our work in developing cutting edge web user interfaces and developing software to understand consumer behaviour,” said Rob.
