Award-winning photographer Don McCullin presented prizes to three winners of a national amateur photography competition organised by a Bradford-based insurance company.
The veteran photojournalist and acclaimed war photographer also helped judge the annual Faith Through a Lens photography competition held by Congregational & General Insurance, based in Little Germany.
The winning shot featuring a young Buddhist monk at Angkor Wat was Contemplation taken by John Sykes. It was praised by the judges for its painting-like contrast and striking composition. Mr Sykes received a commissioned trophy created by Yorkshire sculptor, Craig Dyson and £1,000 worth of photography equipment.
Created by church insurer Congregational & General, Faith Through a Lens aims to highlight and support the positive role faith plays in everyday life through the medium of photography.
Margaret Slater, Congregational & General marketing manager, said: “Faith Through a Lens 2013 features some amazing images which demonstrate the diversity and inclusive nature of faith in the UK and beyond.
“As part of Congregational and General’s commitment to supporting community groups across the UK, we’re delighted to support the three winners’ charity beneficiaries.”
