A Bradford business has donated £1,000 to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal after the civic head picked his own ticket at the firm’s recent charity ball and put the prize of a widescreen TV back into the draw.
Lord Mayor Councillor Dale Smith did the honours at the annual charity ball held by contracting, shopfitting and manufacturing company PEC at Aagrah Midpoint, Thornbury.
PEC founder and chairman Balbir Panesar said: “It was a fantastic night and very generous of the Lord Mayor to return his prize, so we have added to the money raised by the TV draw to give a donation of £1,000 to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which supports a number of very worthwhile local organisations.”
The Lord Mayor said: “I’m delighted to receive such a generous donation, it will help make a real difference and help sprinkle sunshine across Bradford.”
The PEC charity ball was attended by 350 guests and also raised funds for equipment at the cardiac unit at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
