Leeds-based supermarket Asda, which is part of US retail giant Wal-Mart, has reported a 1.3 per cent rise in like-for-like sales excluding VAT and fuel for the 14 weeks to April 12, driven by strong performances in food and online.
The 568-store chain's market position has remained unchanged at 17.9 per cent over the last quarter, according to recent industry figures.
