Yorkshire exile Gary Plank, who runs a shop in Germany selling British goods, is offering visitors to Munich using a new air service from Leeds Bradford Airport a warm welcome.

He will give passengers on Monarch Airline’s new direct service to Munich a free cup of tea and a ten per cent discount at his shop, British Allsorts.

The promotion will help celebrate the launch of Monarch’s sixth UK base at Leeds Bradford Airport and will run for the entire summer period.

Gary opened the shop after meeting his partner Petra while travelling through Germany with his dad’s plastering company. In 2009, British Allsorts opened with 189 items on the shelves. Today there are more than 1,850, including many items from Yorkshire.

Gary said: “British Allsorts is like a home from home for me and British travellers. We have a wide range of British products just like your local corner shop, not forgetting our Yorkshire goods such as Yorkshire Tea, pies and pasties."”

Kevin George, Monarch Airlines managing director, added: “It is fantastic that Gary is offering a warm Yorkshire welcome to the thousands of passengers Monarch Airlines will be carrying to Munich from Leeds Bradford this summer. As a year round destination Munich is a great place to explore.”
