Day tickets go on sale today for Bingley Music Live.

The three-day music festival takes place on September 3 to 5 in Myrtle Park and is expected to attract about 15,000 people.

A free day of music gets the Bradford Council-run event under way on the Friday and individual tickets are now available for Saturday and Sunday.

Among the line-up for Sunday is Hadouken! The formation of the London-based fivesome started when lead vocalist James Smith met future band mate, guitarist Daniel Rice, at the University of Leeds. Buoyed by the city’s thriving music scene, they started their own record label, Surface Noise Records, and went on to rock success.

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus this week, James said: “There was a lot of good bands like Wild Beasts and the Kaiser Chiefs that had just made it big, and The Cribs, who are local heroes, so it was a really exciting time.

“We finished university and jumped straight into the band as our full-time jobs. We’ve worked hard, but it’s been quite an easy ride!”

So what can first-time listeners expect at Bingley?

James said: “Our music is a combination between electronic and rock and heavier guitar-based music. We want the crowd to be really involved. That’s what we are all about – our music is designed to get people moving.

“We want people to enjoy it, we’re not some philosophical band, we’re just out to enjoy ourselves.

“Bingley was not familiar to us, but we are aware of the rich culture of live music in Yorkshire and we’re excited about playing it.”

Other acts confirmed to play over the three days include Seasick Steve, The Enemy, Professor Green, James, The Blackout, Buzzcocks and The Levellers.

Andrew Wood, the Council’s event manager, said: “The bill is coming together nicely and my fingers are crossed that we’ll have good weather. Ticket sales are doing well and I think sales will be boosted by people who have been waiting for day tickets.”
