Campion kept a grip on the Mumtaz Premier Division Cup they won last season by getting the better of hosts Hall Green United in a seven-goal first-round thriller.
As in the league encounter the previous week, Hall Green swept into a two-goal advantage through Danny Empsall and Mathew Marsden. Mick Burke pulled one back from the penalty spot and Neil Walters equalised on the stroke of half-time.
And within 15 minutes of the re-start, Carl Trennery put Campion in front for the first time only for the hosts to level from the spot. With both sides striving to avoid extra-time, Chris Graham grabbed the winner for the holders.
Brighouse Town, runners-up last season, made it to the second round with a 2-0 victory at Tyersal.
Their opener came thanks to a bizarre own goal from a Tyersal defender whose back-pass was completely missed by goalkeeper Daryl Crowley in his attempt to clear and the ball was carried by the strong breeze into the net. Carl Cochrane netted Town's second.
Wibsey came from behind twice at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare before running out 4-2 victors. Oliver Metcalfe (2), Chris Wood and Jamie Brennan were on target for the hosts.
Huddersfield sides Bay Athletic and Golcar United both made it to the second round, Bay beating Eastmoor 6-0 and Golcar edging out Halifax Irish 2-1.
Two goals from James Greenwood for Ovenden West Riding saw them home with a 2-1 win over Storthes Hall.
South Bradford ended Steeton's hopes of retaining the Division One Cup. Adie Lowther and Terry Oddly scored in their 2-1 first-round home victory.
Dudley Hill Rangers had Jason Kershaw and Jamie Lee on target as they returned from Salts with a 2-0 success. Keighley Shamrocks came home from Marsden with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory after sharing eight goals by the end of extra-time.
Overthorpe and Farnley, who occupy the top two league places, clashed in an ill-tempered tie during which Farnley had four players dismissed. Not surprisingly, Overthorpe ran out 4-0 winners.
There will be no cup run this season for Ventus/Yeadon or Heckmondwike Town. Ventus went down 3-1 at Littletown while Meltham Athletic eased into the second round by winning 4-1 at Heckmondwike.
Crag Road United progressed in the Division Two Cup with a 5-2 win at Campion Reserves. Paul Moorhouse and Chris McMahon both scored twice to add to a Dominic Barrett effort.
Rawdon Old Boys lost out in extra-time at home to Brighouse Town Reserves. The score was 1-1 after normal time thanks to goals from Rawdon's Neil Brown and Brighouse's Richard Walsh before Emile De-Marco put Town through.
Bronte Wanderers let a 2-0 half-time lead slip at Storthes Hall Reserves, ending 4-2 losers.
There was also no joy in the cup this season for Dynamoes or Dudley Hill Athletic. Dynamoes went down 6-1 at Hemsworth Reserves, while Athletic saw their chances of a cup run ended at Lower Hopton, who won 3-0.
