The Born in Bradford (BiB) project held its rearranged Teddy Bears’ Picnic in Lister Park, Manningham , yesterday.

In this Olympic year the event, postponed from July because of heavy rainfall, had a sporty theme.

The picnic was attended by Olympic torch bearer 74-year-old Brenda Thomson and staff at the Ministry of Food in Bradford demonstrated pancake making.

The Ministry of Food gets its fresh produce from Solly’s Fruit and Veg stall at the Oastler Market and Solly’s supplied free fruit for all the children and raffled off a big hamper of fresh fruit.

Other attractions included life-size bears and the chance to win one of Hallmark’s Forever Friends bears. Health, council, children’s centre and voluntary sector staff were busy giving out advice and information about their services.

The BiB project is following the lives of more than 13,000 children to find out what makes some children get ill.
