A Bradford car retailer is supporting a vintage vehicle rally for the 12th year to boost a local cancer charity’s funds.

JCT600 is sponsoring the annual Bradford to Morecambe Historic Vehicle Run which takes place tomorrow.

The rally attracts more than 140 classic cars on the 130-mile round-trip to Morecambe and back. Starting as a humble cycle race in the 1950s, the event has now developed into a two-day nostalgic extravaganza for classic car enthusiasts, attracting thousands of visitors to the seaside town.

Last year’s run included nine members of the local Porsche Club with their classic cars which included a red 911 Supersport that was originally sold by JCT600 in Leeds in 1987, and a silver 944, also a 1987 car, that was originally sold by JCT600 in Newcastle.

Over the past four years, proceeds have been given to Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale, raising £4,000 in each of the last two years. JCT600 chairman Jack Tordoff has been a patron of the charity for more than six years.

The charity offers non-medical services aimed to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families. More than 3,000 people every year access one or more services which are free to anyone affected by cancer.

Linda Enderby, community fundraiser for the charity, said: “It is important that businesses with Bradford and district roots support their local independent charities. Jack Tordoff is a prime example of this, and we are extremely grateful to him for his continuing support.”
