A cancer support charity based in Keighley which was created by two cancer survivors has joined forces with Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale.

Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support, set up in March by Adele Smithurst, 36, of Cross Hills and Rachael Moorhouse, 42, of Carleton , who became friends when they were diagnosed with breast cancer, will now be known as Cancer Support (Keighley branch). They will continue to offer practical support and counselling from their base in the Keighley Civic Centre in North Street, Keighley.

Rachael, a counsellor, said: “Adele and I are excited about being able to provide this service with Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale. We’re looking forward to developing the service further.”

Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale, with its headquarters at Daisy House Farm in Smith Lane, Bradford, celebrates its silver jubilee next year and supports more than 3,000 cancer patients a year.

Linda Howard, director of Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale said: “This is an exciting development for the charity, allowing us to provide personal face-to-face support in Keighley.

“If you or someone in your family has been affected by a cancer diagnosis and you fancy a chat and a coffee with like-minded people, Rachael and Adele will be available at Cancer Support (Keighley Branch), The Civic Centre, North Street, Keighley, BD21 3RQ, on Thursdays from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm.
