What happens when you’re branded ‘abnormal’ in a world obsessed with normality?
Stand-up comic Fransesca Martinez finds out, in her new show, coming to Bradford this autumn.
Following her hit tour of Australia, Malaysia and Singapore, and a successful run at the Edinburgh Festival, Francesca – who has mild cerebral palsy but prefers the term “wobbly” – is touring the UK, busting myths about disability and conventional notions of normality.
She is a regular face on TV, having appeared in five series of Grange Hill, and in Extras, playing a role written specially for her by Ricky Gervais.
Fransesca is currently working on a TV comedy series with Australian comedian Adam Hills. She also delivers motivational speeches around the world and runs comedy workshops for mixed-ability performers and writers.
Fransesca Martinez is at the Alhambra Studio on Friday, September 28. For tickets, ring (01274) 432000.
