Organisers of Calverley ’s annual Millennium Walk say this year’s event raised a bumper £1,093 for charity.
The money from the walk, which kickstarted the village’s jubilee celebrations in June, will be shared equally between the four care homes in Calverley.
More than 100 walkers took part in the fundraiser, striding along the marked route round Calverley’s boundaries. It is hoped even more will sign up for the 2013 event in the first week of May.
One of the organisers, David Williams, said: “Once again it was a fabulous turnout and got the whole jubilee weekend off to a wonderful start.
“Next year it will be back at its usual slot in May. We just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a success.”
