A fundraiser is expecting to face many ups and downs in his quest to raise money for The Alzheimers’ Society.

Jon Shaw, 49, has set himself the challenge of a sponsored ride-a-thon on The Ultimate rollercoaster at Lightwater Valley.

Mr Shaw, of Addingham , is also preparing to climb Mount Kilimajaro in January, for the charity. He needs to raise £3,900 for the trek and, as well as holding a race night in Addingham on Friday, September 14, he hopes to attract sponsors for his all-day rollercoaster ride on Sunday, October 14.

Mr Shaw wanted to take on the Kilimanjaro challenge to celebrate his 50th birthday next year, but also in memory of his father-in-law, Walter Gray, who developed dementia.
