A Bradford organisation is calling for good neighbours to volunteer as “buddies” for elderly people.
Bradford Shares is looking for drivers, gardeners, tea-makers, pianists, flat-pack builders, bingo callers as well as over-55s willing to link up with another person for joint theatre trips, holidays and visits to social groups.
The recruitment drive follows a launch event held by Bradford Shares earlier this summer in Denholme .
Bradford Shares organiser Shona George said: “We are keen to introduce more people to the scheme so that we can match up buddies.
“We are trying to encourage anyone who’s lonely to get in touch. They can help each other out by meeting, giving someone a phone call or writing a letter.”
Bradford Shares has organised a meeting on Wednesday, September 19 from 1pm to 3pm at Keighley Civic Centre in North Street.
