Pop-rock musical Loserville, which starred Bradford’s Gareth Gates (pictured) in a Yorkshire run, is to transfer to the West End.
Following its success at the West Yorkshire Playhouse this summer, the show, written by Elliot Davis and James Bourne, former member of Busted and Son Of Dork, will hit London from October 1.
The West End production reunites much of the original Leeds cast, with Stewart Clarke taking over the role of Eddie from Gareth Gates, who is touring in Legally Blonde and also currently appearing on Celebrity Masterchef.
Sheena Wrigley, chief executive of the playhouse, says: “We are delighted that a wider audience will have the opportunity to see this energetic, bright and lively production of a new British musical which premiered here in Yorkshire.”
Set in an American high school in 1971, the show follows a gang of friends headed by ‘super-smart geek’ Michael Dork whose nemesis, Eddie, tries to steal his girlfriend.
