Otley ’s oldest building will stage a series of events as part of the town’s Heritage Open Days.
All Saints Parish Church is inviting the public to come along and discover something new about the building at an open weekend running from Friday to Sunday.
The church’s collection of Saxon Cross fragments indicates there has been a church on the site in Kirkgate since at least the 8th century, although the oldest part of the current building dates back to the 11th century.
The weekend will include displays, a history trail and live organ music. On Saturday, historian Bill Mulholland will share the results of his research on those named on the war memorial inside the church.
The church will be open from 10am to 4.30pm on Friday, 10am to 12.30pm on Saturday, re-opening at 3pm after a wedding, and on Sunday from 11.30am to 4.30pm.
