Carol Hall was just seven when she first got her tortoise – and six decades later the pair are still together.
Now grandmother Carol is planning a party to celebrate her pet’s 60th birthday.
Meatpie – as the tortoise is known – will be the star attraction this weekend as around 60 people toast his landmark anniversary.
Carol and husband Brian are hosting the party at their Rawdon home for Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Members.
Meatpie has been a part of Carol’s family since he was about a year old, and although she is not exactly sure when his birthday is she has decided to hold a party anyway.
“I remember going to a pet shop in Leeds where we bought him on my birthday.”
