A sixty-five-year-old woman has been recognised for her tireless fundraising work and nominated for a Community Stars award.
Pauline Bradley -Sharp, 65, has been the secretary of Hirst Wood Regeneration Group for five years and organises funding for a host of community projects and facilities.
The group was set up in 2000 and carries out a host of work for the community including sport tuition for young people, outings for the elderly and disabled and providing various facilities for everyone to enjoy.
Kate Inglis, who nominated Mrs Sharp, said: “She’s a brilliant fundraiser. She does a lot of things for the community, but her fundraising is amazing.
“She’s always on the go and she knows everybody. She works tireless for the benefit of the local community.”
Some of the projects Mrs Sharp has found funding for include a basketball court, an orchard and wild flower meadow and a youth shelter.
Mrs Sharp said: “It is really nice to be appreciated. I really enjoy seeing the outcome of the hard work and it is really satisfying. It’s nice to see the public like what we have achieved.
“The children who live in the area are very respectful. They keep the streets clean, so I enjoy arranging activities for them.”
Nominations are still being sought in the Community Stars awards, run by the Telegraph & Argus in association with Bradford Council.
Nominations are being sought in the categories of Community Champion, Good Neighbour, Volunteer, Fundraiser, Community Group, Young Active Citizen and Community Sport Maker.
The closing date for nominations is September 8. A shortlist will then be compiled and the finalists will be put to a public vote. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at City Hall on December 3, where they will be presented with a Bradford Medal.
