An historic landmark identified as a “crumbling gem” is to be turned into a children’s nursery.
Imposing 19th century Nunroyd House was in need of rescue, according to a report earlier this year by conservation charity SAVE Britain’s Heritage.
Now its new owners have pledged to restore the building to its former glory, as well as providing childcare and jobs for the area.
Louise Robinson and Jenny Elstub have bought the building, which has stood empty for eight years and which stands in Nunroyd Park, on the border between Yeadon and Guiseley .
Louise said: “When we bought the building one month ago, it was in a desperate state of repair, having a huge area of the roof missing.” The two have started building work and aim to open the nursery early next year.
