Police have taken action to allay concerns about speeding on a Brighouse street.
PCSO Sam Sykes met up with councillors, Calderdale Street Wardens and residents in the Rastrick area and was told that, during the rush hour, vehicles travelled at excessive speeds at Rastrick Common.
PCSO Sykes later visited the Common with colleague PC Nick Bamforth and, using a pro-laser speed detection device, measured the speed of vehicles. Between 7.30am and 9am last Tuesday, two people were issued with tickets, a car driver travelling at 43mph and a motorcyclist travelling at 44mph.
Both men were fined £60 and will receive three points on their licence.
A police spokesman said: “Lower Valley officers will be conducting further checks in the area, so be warned – cut your speed now or face a fine and points on your licence.”
