A murder victim found by concerned neighbours in his Bradford home was today named as Clement “Butch” Desmier.
And police have revealed the 68-year-old might have been killed during a violent burglary at his home in Rowleston Rise, Greengates .
Mr Desmier was found dead by neighbours yesterday afternoon who were concerned that his lights had been left on. It is understood his home had been ransacked.
Detectives have appealed for anyone who saw suspicious behaviour outside Mr Desmier’s home in the early hours of yesterday to contact them.
Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, of The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET), said that witnesses had reported seeing two men outside the address at 3am and he urged them to come forward.
He added: “We do have evidence to suggest a burglary may have occurred at the property in the early hours of August 23 and that violence may have been used in Mr Desmier's death.
"I am appealing in particular for anyone who saw suspicious activity at the premises around this time, or believe they may know the identity of the two men seen acting suspiciously outside the property.
“We know Mr Desmier was quite well known in Bradford and Shipley , would drink in local pubs and use local transport and are trying to build up a picture of his movements and lifestyle in the days before his death and I am particularly keen to hear from anybody who has seen or been in contact with Mr Desmier during the last week.”
Anyone who has information should contact HMET on 101 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or text 0778 6200805.
