A man thought to be in his 60s is believed to have died at his home in Greengates today.
A police tent was erected outside a house in Rowlestone Rise, off Redcar Road, tonight and forensic officers in white suits were at the scene. Police tape cordoned off the semi-detatched property.
A woman neighbour, who did not want to be named, said she had known the man who lived there, and from conversations with neighbours she understood he had died.
“I’ve known him a long time and he never caused no trouble in the street or anything,” she said. “Last I saw him was Monday, walking up the road, and this all happened today. It’s terrible.”
She said she believed the man who lived in the house that was cordoned off had lived there alone.
“My son said to me, God what’s going on up the road,” she said. “There were forensics, police, paramedics. I’m really shocked about it, I think it’s awful.”
She added: “He sort of kept himself to himself. He just had the odd friend that used to come round and see him, never caused any bother at all.”
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said there was an incident in the area and inquiries were ongoing but refused to comment further.
