Bradford pop star Zayn Malik has re-opened his account on the social networking site Twitter, 36 hours after announcing he was leaving the site because of "hate".
One Direction's Zayn, 19, of East Bowling, is thought to have had abusive tweets following the surfacing on the internet of a video that allegedly showed him with a girl in his hotel at the end of the band's US tour earlier this year.
But he reactivated his account this morning and wrote: "Sorry, I was getting some abuse on twitter but I dont want to let my fans down. So I am back!! :) x"
Within minutes his "follower" count - which had been reset to zero when he scrapped his account - was climbing by tens of thousands every minute.
