Detectives are studying CCTV footage for clues in the hunt for a callous gunman who blasted a man in the legs in a “punishment-style” Bradford shooting.

The 20-year-old victim, named locally as Jacob Gallagher, suffered serious injuries to his lower legs after he was shot at least twice from close range in the street.

Yesterday he was in a stable condition in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital after undergoing surgery.

Detectives are keeping an open mind about the motive for the shooting and have declined to comment on suggestions it could have been a revenge attack.

But they have confirmed the victim had been targeted.

The incident happened at about 11pm on Monday.

Mr Gallagher was confronted in Kyffin Place, Tyersal , by the occupants of a silver car. He was then chased on foot by two men into Dick Lane, and shot at its junction with Parsonage Road.

Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, who is leading the investigation, said yesterday: “We hope CCTV images could assist us in identifying the vehicle involved.”
