A new Keighley-based charity has raised £400 to help persecuted people in Burma.
The Shahjalal Welfare Trust collected the cash to support members of the Rohingya community, which has suffered decades of abuse at the hands of Burma’s majority population.
Helal Ali, a founder member of the Shahjalal Welfare Trust, who lives in Knowle Park, said the organisation was set up about six months ago and has half a dozen active Keighley members.
The other founding members of the charity are Shabul Ali, Azizur Rahman and Ishkar Ali.
The cash was collected through charity meals and individual contributions.
