A glass of “Olympic medal-winning” Yorkshire Water has been sold on auction website Ebay for £1.25.
Three bidders competed for the water, which offered its buyer an “Olympic boost”, before the auction came to an end on Sunday.
A spokesman for Bradford- based Yorkshire Water, said: “We’re flattered that someone would pay £1.25 for a pint of Yorkshire water and would never question its suggested qualities, especially after the brilliant Olympic performances by the region's athletes.
“However, we can only assume that the buyer is someone from outside the region, perhaps an expat, who craves a decent glass of water, because as everyone in Yorkshire knows, a pint of water from us costs approximately 0.01 pence.”
Yorkshire athletes won 12 medals in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
