A leading road safety charity is advising Bradford motorists how to avoid getting caught up in so-called ‘crash for cash’ scams.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is advising the district’s drivers on dealing with staged collisions.
Several recent studies have highlighted Bradford as a “hotspot” for crash for cash incidents.
Britain’s top advanced driver, Peter Rodger, said: “The one to watch for is when some deliberately drives dangerously to force a crash so they can make an exaggerated insurance claim.”
He said people should always look ahead and anticipate hazards, keep a safe distance from the car in front and watch traffic overtaking so that you are not surprised if it pulls across and brakes in front of you.
